Education should be free of economic and social boundaries and should not discriminate between class and creed. We also believe in opening the doors to a greater variety of philosophical ideas which allow students to gain a better understanding of all the different world views. All children deserve equal opportunity to receive an education, but at Tureya ashram we take these principles a step further and encourage all children to fully explore their unique talents and abilities. By allowing them to explore their individuality at a young age, children are provided the right tools to excel throughout. Through principles of the Gurukul system, children are trained in all aspects of life, from the traditional philosophies of ancient India to the advanced sciences of Modern Physics. Alongside their academic curriculum, children are taught the practical techniques of Yoga Science which help them maintain mental, spiritual, and physical health. By introducing the Yogic practices at a young age, children are given the power of thought culture, focusing their minds and developing the skills of concentration. Tureya Ashram is working in cooperation with the Cohen Foundation of India to transform the educational standard and reform education policy to give equal opportunity to all children. A child may come from the horrendous conditions of the slums or the towers of upper class metropolitan apartments, but we will show equal love and attention to both so they may excel in any community or situation. By having children of different social and economic classes come together in the same environment, students will find greater understanding and compassion for their country’s diverse collection of cultural communities.
