Kriya Yoga is known for its ability to carry sincere spiritual aspirants towards self-realization in a compressed amount of time. In some traditions of yoga it is said that only through continuous practice over numerous lifetimes can one obtain liberation; but to the aspirant who is devoted to the practice, Kriya Yoga can give us liberation in this lifetime. The major requirement that one must fulfill before beginning the Kriya practices is to possess an open heart and mind. The techniques transform the inner and outer beings and leave behind a strong resonation of growth, love, and compassion. Therefore it is highly advisable that those who seek the path of greater consciousness take some aspects of Kriya Yoga and integrate them into their daily practice. Kriya Yoga plays a vital part in many of the Yogic Practices, and is used throughout various systems of yoga including Karma Yoga (action of the soul), Bakti Yoga (Devotional aspect of the heart), Jnana Yoga (development of intellect), and Raja Yoga (psychic evolution). Although Kriya Yoga takes many forms and colors as it is filtered through these various systems, ultimately it draws us towards universal oneness. It is this feature that makes Kriya Yoga an important asset to the Yogic Science. Throughout the ages Kriya Yoga has found its way into the lives of many spiritual practitioners. Saints, seers, and sages used the techniques to carry their mind to higher states of Awareness. Kriya Yoga can be found all throughout the breath of yogic texts; its practices are mentioned by the Rishis (seers) of the Upanishads, Lord Krishna in the Bhagavad Gita, and Maharishi Patangali in the Yoga Sutras. In Kriya Yoga we are essentially developing a tool to control the mind, opening the door to higher realms of awareness. Through the breath we reveal various layers of evolution. Although we can live without food for weeks and survive without water for many days, it is universally accepted that without breathing for more than a minute or two the average man will die. By modifying our breath, we begin to control the breath. After we have controlled the breath we become masters of the breath. Once we have mastered the breath we can achieve the breathless stage from which the state of Samadhi arises, a profound realization of the Absolute. At this point we have obtained the deathless state, and can therefore conclude we have mastered death. Tureya Institute is offering training in Kriya Yoga to assist individuals who express interest in this advanced science. For Kriya Yoga aspirants, experience is not as important as sincerity and commitment; therefore, lessons are offered to all ability levels, whether new to yoga or a lifelong Sanyassi. The Kriya Yogic practices do not cause any side effects when practiced with attention and concentration. It is important that those who wish to learn the practices receive them earnestly and open mindedly. The surefire way to achieve realization is through constant and continual practice.
